The office explained in a statement that "the Israeli occupation targeted thousands of starving civilians in the Sudanese area in northern Gaza, as they were heading to receive humanitarian aid arriving via trucks from the Zikim crossing," noting that they were fired upon directly, amid the catastrophic famine conditions imposed by the occupation on the residents of the Strip for months.
He added, "112 aid trucks entered Gaza on Wednesday, most of which were subjected to looting and theft, as a result of the security chaos being systematically perpetuated by the occupation, as part of a policy of engineering chaos and starvation aimed at thwarting aid distribution and depriving civilians of it."
The statement stressed that "this massacre, and previous similar crimes, confirm that the occupation is using hunger as a weapon of war, cold-bloodedly targeting civilians seeking a livelihood, in flagrant violation of all international and humanitarian laws."
The office condemned "the bloody policies pursued by the occupation forces," holding Tel Aviv and the countries supporting it "fully responsible for the ongoing crimes against more than 2.4 million Palestinians, including 1.1 million children deprived of food and infant formula."
He called on the international community, the United Nations, and international justice institutions to "take urgent action to open the crossings immediately, break the siege, and ensure the safe and orderly entry of humanitarian aid, including baby formula, under full UN supervision, and to hold Israeli war criminals accountable for their escalating crimes."
The statement indicated that the Gaza Strip requires at least 600 trucks of aid and fuel daily to meet its basic needs, stressing that these requirements "are still far from being met in light of the stifling blockade and ongoing bombardment."
Medical sources in Gaza hospitals reported that the total number of martyrs since dawn on Wednesday has risen to 86, including 71 aid seekers, as the famine worsens and continues to claim more lives.
Despite the Israeli occupation army's declaration of a "humanitarian truce" in three densely populated areas, its forces launched air and artillery bombardments on several locations across Gaza, while famine intensifies, further complicating the already deteriorating humanitarian situation in the besieged enclave.
According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health in Gaza, the number of deaths from famine and malnutrition since October 7, 2023, through Wednesday has reached approximately 154 Palestinians, including 89 children.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with US support, has been waging a war of extermination in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring all international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt the operation.
The genocide left more than 206,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 9,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands of displaced persons and a famine that claimed the lives of many.
