"A horrific situation." Trump acknowledges the real hunger in Gaza and announces the possibility of reaching a ceasefire.

Speaking to reporters at his golf resort in Turnpike, Scotland, while meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump said he had told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli officials that the fighting in Gaza must be different.

He added that people in Gaza need food and security right now, noting that he would discuss the situation with Starmer, explaining that "the European Union will send more aid to the Gaza Strip."

At a press conference with Starmer on Monday evening, Trump said, "There is real hunger in Gaza, and we can save many lives. We will remove all the barriers and work to ensure that food reaches the children."

The US President pointed out that "Israel bears a great responsibility for ensuring that aid reaches the Gaza Strip, where people see food miles away and cannot reach it."

He added, "We will work to establish food centers in the Gaza Strip, provide funds, and other countries will join us. Food distribution centers in the Gaza Strip will be open without restrictions."

He continued: "The situation in the Gaza Strip is very dire, and we hope that food will reach those who deserve it."

In a related development, Trump said he spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, noting that they are working on plans regarding Gaza.

He added, "I spoke with the President of the European Commission and pledged to contribute to meeting Gaza's humanitarian needs."

Gaza is experiencing the worst humanitarian crisis in its history, with a severe famine intertwined with a war of extermination waged by Israel, with US support, since October 7, 2023.

Since March 2, 2025, Israel has closed all crossings with the Gaza Strip, preventing the entry of food and medical aid, causing a famine to spread within the Strip.

According to the latest figures from the Ministry of Health in Gaza, released on Sunday, the death toll from famine and malnutrition since October 7, 2023, has risen to 133 Palestinians, including 87 children.

The genocide waged by Israel, with US support, on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, has left more than 204,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 9,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands of displaced persons and a famine that has claimed the lives of many.
