In a statement issued the campaign said that the forum, which runs from July 6 to 11, will feature the participation of academics representing Israeli universities "used to build Zionist propaganda and develop tools of military and security oppression against the Palestinian people." It contends that some of their abstracts explicitly adopt the "Zionist narrative."
The campaign called for the cancellation of these researchers' participation, urging all Moroccan and international academics and researchers to withdraw from the forum's activities as a protest.
The same campaign had issued a similar statement on July 2, calling for a boycott of the forum for the same reasons.
The forum is organized by the International Sociological Association, a non-governmental organization based in Morocco, whose members include academic institutions from around the world.
The forum is one of the world's most prominent academic events in the field of sociology, with more than 4,500 researchers from nearly 100 countries participating this year.
The organizing association did not immediately comment on its position on Israeli participation, but its website still lists a number of Israeli academics among the participants.
The association had decided in late May to suspend the membership of the Israeli Sociological Association due to its "failure to take a position condemning the humanitarian situation in Gaza." However, the decision did not include a complete ban on the participation of individuals from other Israeli institutions.
It's worth noting that this decision came in response to a widespread protest campaign launched by academics and human rights activists against Israel's participation in the forum, prompting some to announce their withdrawal in protest.
