The Public Prosecution Service said in a statement on Wednesday that the Brussels-based Hind Rajab Foundation filed two complaints against two Israeli soldiers who had traveled to the Belgian city of Boom to participate in the Tomorrowland festival on July 18 and 19.
She added that, after reviewing the complaint, the Public Prosecution decided to refer the two soldiers' cases to the International Criminal Court, in line with Belgium's international obligations and to ensure the proper administration of justice.
The Hind Rajab Foundation announced in a statement on July 21 that Belgian police had detained two Israeli soldiers and investigated them on allegations of war crimes in Gaza.
For its part, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that two of its citizens had been arrested in Belgium and were being investigated, without providing any reasons for their arrest.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a war of extermination in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring all international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it.
The US-backed genocide left more than 206,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 9,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands of displaced persons and a famine that claimed the lives of many.
