Deputy Chairman of DPD appreciates the acceleration of MBG beneficiary achievements

Deputy Speaker of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) Tamsil Linrung expressed his appreciation for the accelerated growth in beneficiaries of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, which has been reintroduced as a National Priority Program in 2026.

"Nutritious Eating is a new program. It's only recently become known in Indonesia and involves complex infrastructure and superstructure. Therefore, current achievements are on the right track," Tamsil said in a statement received.

He is optimistic that President Prabowo's target of 20 million beneficiaries before the 80th Indonesian Independence Day commemoration on August 17, 2025, can be achieved.

"The President is very serious about this program, as evidenced by the budget policies he has implemented. Support for these policies must be balanced with collaboration from all stakeholders to accelerate achievement of the targets," he said.

Tamsil touched on the accelerated growth of MBG beneficiaries at several Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) he reviewed during his recess in South Sulawesi Province, including SPPG Minasa Te'ne and SPPG Bungoro in Pangkep Regency; and SPPG Pattallassang in Takalar Regency.

He detailed that the Bungoro SPPG served only 1,700 students at its initial launch, but a week later, it was able to serve 2,983 students. Meanwhile, the Minasa Te'ne SPPG has served 3,216 beneficiaries.
