Kurtulmuş calls on parliaments around the world to act together against the genocide in Gaza.

"It is our moral duty to act together against the ongoing genocide in Palestine," Kurtulmuş said during the opening session of the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament.

He added, "What is happening in Palestine is a matter of international justice that concerns not only the Palestinian people, Arabs, or Islamic countries, but all of humanity," noting that parliaments in many countries have established a "Parliamentary Group in Support of Palestine" to express solidarity with the Palestinian people and support the two-state solution.

He continued: "We believe that the ongoing campaign of genocide in the occupied Palestinian territories must end urgently, its perpetrators must be brought to justice, and that the two-state solution is the only way to achieve a just and lasting peace in the region."

He continued his remarks by saying, "As UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres emphasized yesterday, for the Palestinians, state-building is not a reward, but a right, and rejecting a Palestinian state would be a gift to extremists everywhere."

He called on all parliaments to join the parliamentary group in support of Palestine, provided that they adopt the "two-state solution" vision as the only prerequisite for "making our voice heard more loudly and effectively."

It's worth noting that the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union, kicked off today, Tuesday, in Geneva, Switzerland, and will continue until July 31.
