Mandiri Bintan Marathon 2025 is now not only an international sports tourism event , but also opens the way for runners to enter the world marathon event included in the World Marathon Majors (WMM).
iSport Race Director Pandu Bagus Bantaran said that this year's event, which will be held in Bintan, Riau Islands, on November 8-9, has officially received certification from the International Marathon and Long Distance Running Association (AIMS), which means that participants' time records can be used as a qualification requirement for other international events.
"With AIMS certification, participants' time records in the Bintan Marathon can be used to register for Boston, Berlin, London, and other international marathon events. This is a major breakthrough for Indonesian runners who want to climb to the next level," Pandu said in a press conference.
For your information, the World Marathon Majors is a series of six prestigious marathons in the world that are considered the most prestigious in marathon running. The event takes place in Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, and New York.
With AIMS certification, the committee also made improvements to this year's route, including lowering the elevation of the track to make it more friendly for runners chasing the best time.
"We lowered the marathon elevation from 330 meters to 320 meters, and the half marathon from 180 to 170 meters. We want to provide a comfortable and competitive running experience," he said.
