Mavericks appoint Ethan Casson as club president

The Dallas Mavericks have officially appointed Ethan Casson as club president to handle daily business operations, coordinating under Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rick Welts.

According to the NBA website, as quoted Casson, who previously served as CEO of the Minnesota Timberwolves, will work under Welts, who is now more focused on plans to build a new arena for the NBA team.

"Our commitment is to make the Mavericks one of the best professional sports organizations, and the addition of an experienced executive like Ethan Casson is an important step toward that goal," said Team Governor Patrick Dumont.

Casson's appointment comes seven months after Rick Welts came out of retirement to replace Cynt Marshall as Mavericks CEO.

Marshall was previously appointed by Mark Cuban following the sexual harassment scandal within the Mavericks office.

Cuban then sold a majority stake in the club to the Adelson and Dumont families of Las Vegas in late 2023, with Dumont taking over as team governor.

Meanwhile, Cuban maintained minority ownership and served as alternate governor.
