Microsoft Commercial Director Judson Althoff said in a presentation this week that AI tools have increased productivity in sales, customer service, and software engineering and driven significant savings.
According to a Bloomberg report cited by TechCrunch on July 9, 2025, Althoff noted that Microsoft last year was able to save more than 500 million US dollars just from its call centers with the support of artificial intelligence ( AI ) technology.
The internal statement comes a week after Microsoft laid off more than 9,000 workers in the company's third wave of layoffs this year.
However, it is unclear whether the workers laid off this year were replaced by AI or whether the layoffs were part of the company's post-pandemic adjustment measures.
