Rejecting military means, China calls for a peaceful solution to the Gaza issue and the Iranian nuclear file.

In his address to the UN Security Council on Wednesday, Fu pointed to the escalating conflicts in the region, stating that the suffering of the Palestinian people is increasing. He emphasized that the Middle East is experiencing serious turmoil, and that Israel must immediately halt all military operations in Gaza.

He continued: "The humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza has reached dangerous levels, and countries with significant influence over the parties must take effective steps to achieve a ceasefire."

The Beijing delegate called on Israel, which he described as an "occupying power," to immediately lift the blockade on Gaza and allow full access for relief aid. He emphasized that the Palestinian issue lies "at the heart of the Middle East" and that the two-state solution is "the only viable solution."

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with full American support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, leaving approximately 191,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, more than 11,000 missing, and hundreds of thousands displaced.

 Iran's nuclear file

In a related context, China stressed on Wednesday the need to find a peaceful solution to the problems arising from Iran's nuclear activities through political and diplomatic efforts.

This was stated by Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning, commenting on a statement by Israeli Consul General in Shanghai, Ravit Baer, in which he called on the Chinese government to use its political and economic influence to pressure Iran.

At a press conference, Mao stressed that China is making great efforts to establish peace and stability in the Middle East, and called on all concerned parties to cooperate to guide the issues related to the Iranian nuclear program toward a political solution.

In a recent press statement, the Israeli consul general in Shanghai said that China should use its influence to "curb Iran's military and nuclear ambitions." He added that "China is the only country capable of influencing Iran," and that "if China does not buy Iranian oil, Tehran will collapse."

On June 13, Israel, with US support, launched a 12-day attack on Iran, targeting military and nuclear sites, civilian facilities, and the assassination of military leaders and nuclear scientists. Iran responded by targeting Israeli military and intelligence headquarters with ballistic missiles and drones.

On June 22, the United States attacked Iranian facilities and claimed to have "ended" its nuclear program. Tehran responded by bombing the U.S. Al-Udeid base in Qatar. On June 24, Washington declared a ceasefire between Tel Aviv and Tehran.

Israel and its ally, the United States, accuse Iran of seeking to produce nuclear weapons, while Tehran says its program is designed for peaceful purposes, including electricity generation.

Israel is the only country in the region with a nuclear arsenal, which is not subject to international oversight, and has continued to occupy territories in Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon for decades.
