The latest research from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore shows that combining 5G connectivity with the use of artificial intelligence (AI) can improve the economies of countries in the ASEAN region.
"With AI, 5G becomes more powerful. 5G also becomes a force not only for the development of AI but also traditional technologies and other emerging technologies. ASEAN has the potential to achieve its best potential with strong collaboration," said a professor at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Vu Minh Khuong, in a presentation at a webinar on his research entitled "Leveraging 5G to Accelerate AI-Driven Transformation in ASEAN", followed from Jakarta, Tuesday.
GSMA Mobile stated that by 2024 alone, the mobile technology industry (mobile devices), including the use of 5G infrastructure for AI, will contribute to global Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by almost 6 percent with a value of 6,480 billion US dollars.
