The men's doubles tournament is over after Fajar/Fikri were eliminated at the Japan Open.

After the women's singles, it is now the turn of the Indonesian men's doubles to be eliminated from the BWF World Tour Super 750 Japan Open 2025 after Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri were eliminated in the quarterfinals.

They had to admit the toughness of the top seeds from Malaysia, Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin, with a score of 13-21, 21-17, 20-22 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.

"We're certainly disappointed with this result. This is my fourth meeting against them, and we've always lost in rubber games. The last two meetings even went to a match-fixing battle," Fajar said in an official statement from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) after the match.

Fajar said critical points had once again become stumbling blocks for him and Fikri. He believes decisions made during critical times remain important for future evaluation.

"This is a point of evaluation for me, how to approach crucial points. I have to be more confident in making decisions," he said.

Fajar also acknowledged the extraordinary fighting power of his opponent, especially during the crucial moment in the deciding game when Izzuddin was able to return the ball while falling and turn the situation around.

"They had incredible fighting spirit. I didn't expect the ball to come back," he said.
