TikTok lays off employees in US TikTok Shop division

TikTok has again laid off a number of employees working in the TikTok Shop United States division, amidst the performance of their e-commerce business which does not seem to be as expected.

According to a Bloomberg report, as reported by Tech Crunch on Thursday, this is the third wave of layoffs since April. The exact number of employees affected has not been disclosed by the company.

TikTok Shop US, launched less than two years ago, offers a variety of products and pays creators commissions for videos that generate sales. While it is TikTok’s fastest-growing business, the future of its operations in the United States remains uncertain.

This is because, after the official ban on TikTok in the US, President Donald Trump continued to postpone the deadline for ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, to sell the application to an American entity.
