Yilmaz's remarks came in a speech during the second and penultimate day of the high-level international conference on finding a peaceful solution to the Palestinian issue and implementing the two-state solution, held in New York City.
"The genocide committed by Israel in Gaza is a stain on the international order, and there are indications that the international order will be negatively impacted as this genocide continues," Yilmaz said.
He stated that an immediate and permanent ceasefire is the most urgent priority under the current circumstances, adding: “A ceasefire is only possible if the aggressor (Israel) is forced to do so.”
Yilmaz highlighted Tel Aviv's responsibility to end the "humanitarian catastrophe" it has caused in Gaza, emphasizing the need to exert more pressure on Israel to achieve this goal.
He welcomed all recent steps toward recognizing the State of Palestine, noting the importance of assisting the Palestinian Authority in developing its capabilities in every possible way, in conjunction with these urgent political steps.
He believed that recognizing the State of Palestine was the closest step that everyone who had not yet done so could take, indicating that the next step was the need to "begin without delay" efforts related to the reconstruction of Palestine.
He expressed Turkey's readiness to contribute effectively to these efforts, saying, "Palestine needs strong and concrete political solidarity implemented in parallel with binding measures, such as a UN arms embargo and a halt to trade with the aggressor (Israel)."
He pointed out that "the settler terrorism taking place at the end of the 21st century must not go unpunished, and the settlers and those who support them must bear the consequences."
