WBO names Terence Crawford as mandatory super middleweight challenger

The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has named boxer Terence Crawford as the mandatory challenger for the WBO super world title currently held by undisputed champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

"After careful consideration, the WBO Rankings Committee has approved the recommendation to place Terence Crawford as the world number one contender in the super middleweight division," the WBO said in a resolution document published on the organization's official website, as quoted in Jakarta on Thursday.

The WBO's decision relates to a request for Terence Crawford to be included in the WBO super middleweight rankings and to be appointed as a mandatory challenger.
