Women's national team coach reveals reason for defeat to Pakistan

Indonesian women's national team coach Satoru Mochizuki said the 0-2 defeat to Pakistan in Group D of the 2026 Women's Asian Cup qualifiers at the Indomilk Arena, Tangerang Regency, Wednesday, was not due to a change in the starting players.

Mochizhuki said his team's defeat was due to basic mistakes made by many of his players, such as errors in passing and controlling the ball.

"It doesn't mean that the rotation caused these players to be weaker than the players who competed before. But what is certain is that there were many mistakes that occurred on the field such as wrong passes and also wrong control," said the Japanese coach at a press conference after the match, Wednesday.

"We couldn't get into the flow of the game because we couldn't move the ball well with the basic mistakes we made."

Mochizuki made two changes to his starters by benching Isa Warps and Rosdilah Siti, to bring in Vivi Oktavia Riski and Reva Octaviani.

Pakistan coach Adeel Mirza Riski also made two changes to his first 11 by keeping Amina Zaynab Hanif and Sanah Mehdi for Nadia and Mariam Mahmood.

Adeel did the right thing by controlling the game, despite having minimal possession. His approach resulted in two winning goals scored by Nadia and Suha Hirani.
