276,000 fentanyl pills seized in Culiacán

Mexico City, February 3.- Mexican Army and National Guard personnel seized 276,000 fentanyl pills, opium gum, weapons, and vehicles in the community of Costa Rica, in the municipality of Culiacán, Sinaloa.

The Ministry of National Defense (Sedena) reported that "while conducting intelligence work and inter-institutional coordination to strengthen the rule of law in the country and detect criminal organizations with a presence in the aforementioned state, information was obtained about a home used to store synthetic drugs."

During a surveillance operation, military personnel and National Guard members observed two vehicles leaving the designated building and their occupants fleeing, abandoning the vehicles. Military personnel established a security perimeter for National Guard members to conduct a search.

In this way, 276,000 fentanyl pills weighing approximately 30 kilograms were seized, along with 18 kilograms of fentanyl powder, two kilograms of opium gum, three firearms (two long and one short), magazines, cartridges, and a motorcycle.
