600 Chinese soldiers to go to Russia for training to learn how to counter Western weapons

The report did not specify whether the trainees would join the Russian army in combat or whether they would simply be on exchange

Ukrainian media quoted a source from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense's Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) as saying that Russia plans to arrange about 600 Chinese military personnel to receive training at local military facilities and bases this year to learn how to deal with Western weapons.

The Kyiv Post reported that Chinese military personnel going to Russia will receive training on how to deal with Western weapons, covering areas such as tank operation, artillery, engineering and air defense. The report did not specify whether the trainees would join the Russian army to participate in combat or whether it would be just an exchange.

Sources said that the Kremlin intends to allow Chinese military personnel to learn and draw on the Russian army's combat experience in the Russo-Ukrainian war. This move also reflects Russia's intention to stand on the same front with China to jointly counter the West.

Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs: No such information

At a press conference on Thursday (26th) at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, spokesman Guo Jiakun was asked if he could confirm the incident. He did not respond directly, saying only, "I have no information on this."

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in April that intelligence showed China was producing materials such as gunpowder and artillery shells in Russia, and Ukraine therefore imposed sanctions on three Chinese-registered companies. Last month, he also pointed out that although China has suspended the supply of drones to Kyiv and other European countries, it has continued to provide related equipment to Russia.

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte recently emphasized the importance of increasing NATO's military spending, citing the long-term threat posed by Russia, China's massive military buildup, and North Korea, China, and Iran's support for Russia's war in Ukraine. Guo Jiakun stated that on the Ukrainian issue, China has consistently advocated for peace and dialogue, actively promoted a political solution to the crisis, never provided weapons to warring parties, and strictly controlled the export of dual-use items.

He said that China's objective and fair position and the constructive role it plays have been widely recognized by the international community. NATO's false information cannot deceive the world. If NATO truly cares about the security of Europe and the world, it should stop adding fuel to the fire and inciting confrontation.
