The NBA has officially approved the sale of the Boston Celtics to an investor group led by Bill Chisholm for US$6.1 billion, or around Rp99 trillion, making it the most expensive sale of a sports club in the United States.
Quoting the official NBA website, this sale was unanimously approved by the NBA Board of Governors on Wednesday (13/8) local time and will be completed in the near future.
Bill Chisholm, a private equity entrepreneur and Wharton School graduate, will take over ownership of at least 51 percent and gain full control of the NBA's most successful club in 2028. The value of full ownership is estimated to increase to 7.3 billion US dollars.
