Liverpool player Cody Gakpo wants his team to get off to a good start in the Premier League when the Reds open the competition against Bournemouth at Anfield.
"I always think with the first game of the season, we want to start the season well, so maybe it's a little bit more adrenaline than usual. I think we just want to start well," Gakpo told Liverpool's website on Friday.
"Of course, Anfield is amazing. I just miss games like this in the league. I think everyone is delighted we've qualified," he added.
Last season, Liverpool beat The Cherries twice, 3-0 and 2-0 respectively.
Despite winning consistently and never conceding against Andoni Iraola's side last season, Gakpo feels his side must remain vigilant.
"They (Bournemouth) are very intense, they are very good, they also have players who are very good at controlling the ball," said the Dutch player.
