Cooperation and mutual respect, agreed the US ambassador and De la Fuente

The newly arrived U.S. ambassador to Mexico, Ronald Johnson, began his tenure yesterday with a meeting with Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente.

One day after his arrival in the nation's capital, the retired U.S. Army colonel, former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) officer, and former special forces member, paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), where he held a meeting with the Mexican Foreign Minister.

According to information released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the X platform, the meeting took place in an atmosphere of frank and direct dialogue, and both parties agreed to conduct bilateral relations based on the principles of cooperation and mutual respect.

De la Fuente informed Johnson that President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo will receive him next Monday at the National Palace to present his credentials, formalizing his inauguration before the Mexican government. This confirmation aligns with the president's announcement on Thursday, when she expressed her expectation of receiving the ambassador on the 19th of this month.
