In the same context, the German channel NTV reported that the Turkish president's wife sent a touching message to Melania Trump, urging her to show her compassion for the suffering of Gaza's children.

Emine Erdoğan sent the letter on Monday, urging Melania Trump to show the same compassion for Palestinian children as she previously did for children in Ukraine, emphasizing that this moment represents a historic opportunity to shoulder humanitarian responsibility for Gaza.

In her letter, the Turkish president's wife stressed the need to make a strong appeal to the Israeli prime minister to halt the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip. She explained that approximately 18,885 children and infants have been killed in Gaza, but that there is still a chance to save more than a million children still alive. She concluded her letter by affirming that "the time for action has long since come."

Since March 2, Israel has closed the crossings into the Gaza Strip, preventing any humanitarian aid from entering. This has pushed the territory into famine, despite the backlog of aid trucks at the border. Israel only allows in very limited quantities, which fail to meet the minimum needs of the starving population.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with American support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and displacement, ignoring international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it.

The Israeli genocide left 62,686 Palestinians dead, 157,951 wounded, most of them children and women, more than 9,000 missing, hundreds of thousands displaced, and a famine that killed 289 Palestinians, including 115 children, as of Sunday.
