Red Bull KTM Tech3 MotoGP racer Maverick Vinales will still travel to Austria to compete in the 13th round of the season at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg this weekend, despite not being in good condition.
Vinales suffered a serious crash at the Sachsenring in Germany in early July, which left him with a dislocated shoulder and a broken bone, causing him to miss the remainder of the German Grand Prix and the Czech Grand Prix in Brno.
"The injury at Sachsenring was unfortunate, but we've worked really hard with everyone around me to be able to go to Austria, just a month after the accident in Germany," Vinales told Crash.net on Tuesday.
"I was able to return to training last week, and we've been doing a lot of physiotherapy to help my shoulder recover faster and get stronger," he added.
Despite not yet being declared fit by MotoGP doctors as medical examinations are due to take place tomorrow Thursday in Austria, Vinales will attempt to race this weekend as the nearly one-month summer break is over.
