Head of Information Center: The development of TNI units has been studied, including the budget.

Head of the Indonesian National Armed Forces Information Center, Major General Kristomei Sianturi, said that plans to add and develop various units and structures in the three branches of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) have undergone various thorough studies, including regarding the budget.

"Indeed, the Army is the largest contributor to this development effort, as there are 100 additional Territorial Development Battalions, which means an increase in the number of privates and non-commissioned officers. However, we have also recalculated the approximate budget requirements for these various organizations, based on the number of troops required," Kristomei said in West Bandung, West Java, on Friday.

The Head of the Indonesian National Armed Forces Information Center (Puspen TNI) made this statement in response to the formation of six new Regional Military Commands (Kodam), the formation of territorial development command units, and the addition of troops to three TNI branches, which are planned to be inaugurated on August 10, 2025.

Regarding the addition of new Kodams, he said the TNI was only relocating existing units so there would be no addition of new personnel to the structure.

For example, Kodam XIX/Tuanku Tambusai, which oversees Riau and the Riau Islands, was previously under Kodam I/Bukit Barisan, but now stands alone with the Korem and Kodim structures which were previously part of Bukit Barisan.

"This also includes the formation of the XX/Tuanku Imam Bonjol Military Command, which oversees West Sumatra and Jambi, using the Korem and Kodim structures from the II/Sriwijaya Military Command. So, there are no additions here," he said.
