Israeli army attacks in the West Bank, and Israeli plans to expand settlements and punish the Palestinian Authority.

A Palestinian was injured by Israeli army fire on Friday evening in the village of Anza, south of the city of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a statement that its crews "transported a 27-year-old man from the village of Anza who had been shot in the thigh with live ammunition to the hospital."

The official Palestinian news agency, WAFA, reported that Israeli forces stormed the village of Anza, deployed throughout its streets, and fired live ammunition, wounding a young man with a bullet to the thigh. He was then transferred to a health center in the neighboring village of Ajja.

The agency noted that the occupation forces also stormed the town of Beit Liqya, west of Ramallah, sparking clashes during which soldiers fired tear gas canisters at a number of young men who attempted to resist the incursion.

Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces stormed the city of Al-Bireh on Friday evening, accompanied by a number of military vehicles, from the "Psagot" settlement, built on the city's lands.

The Israeli raids extended to the towns of Tuqu' and Jouret ash-Sham'a, southeast of Bethlehem. The occupation army took up positions in the al-Amur neighborhood in the center of Tuqu', raided and searched the home of Habes al-Amur, and stormed Jouret ash-Sham'a and took up positions around the university.

On a daily basis, the Israeli occupation army carries out a series of raids on several cities and towns in the West Bank, arresting Palestinians, while providing protection against settler attacks on residents, their property, and their livelihoods.

Escalatory steps

In a related context, the Israeli Security Cabinet will discuss next Sunday escalating punitive measures against the Palestinians, including the annexation of parts of the West Bank, in response to the expected wave of international recognition of the State of Palestine.

According to what the official broadcasting authority reported, citing informed political sources, the steps the cabinet will discuss may include imposing sovereignty over parts of the West Bank, evacuating the Khan al-Ahmar Bedouin community east of Jerusalem, and promoting settlement projects in the E1 plan.

For decades, Israel has occupied Palestine and refuses to withdraw from it or establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the pre-1967 borders.

This comes as Israel, with US support, has been committing genocide in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, leaving 63,025 Palestinians dead, 159,490 injured, most of them children and women, more than 9,000 missing, hundreds of thousands displaced, and a famine that has claimed the lives of 322 Palestinians, including 121 children.

In parallel with the genocide in Gaza, Israel launched a military assault on the West Bank, resulting in the deaths of at least 1,016 Palestinians, the injury of approximately 7,000 others, and the arrest of more than 18,500, according to Palestinian data
