Mexicali, June 1. As of 12 noon, 17 minor incidents had been reported during the early hours of Sunday's election in Baja California.
Alejandro Ramírez, the National Electoral Institute (INE)'s organizing committee in the state, indicated that six of the incidents involved changes in the location of polling stations .
He explained that this happens when polling station officials arrive at the designated address, but the owner isn't there, and they have to set up shop nearby.
Three of the incidents involved the temporary suspension of voting ; two were in Tecate and one in Mexicali.
Ramírez reported that these cases stemmed from disruptions to the polling place by an intoxicated person, a homeless person, and voters trying to cut in line, respectively.
“It has really been a very peaceful day ,” the INE official said.
