Photovoltaic "controversy" resolved before year's end: AMLO

Tijuana, December 11.- The final decision on the photovoltaic plant project promoted by the Jaime Bonilla Valdez administration will be made in the next two weeks by the Secretary of the Interior, according to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Questioned near the end of his morning press conference in Tijuana, the federal president admitted that the issue has caused controversy and he hopes it will be resolved soon .

"A review is being conducted because there was a concession for the purchase of electricity from companies that, according to information available to the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), were charging too much and were making a lucrative profit," AMLO commented.

The state's energy problems increase annually, especially in the municipality of Mexicali, where service interruptions and high costs are exacerbated during the summer season because Baja California is not connected to the national energy grid.
