Pachuca, Hgo., July 14. The 66th local Legislature of the Congress of Hidalgo condemned the fact that deputy Leonel Perusquía Muedano , of the parliamentary group of the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD), fired ten shots with a firearm, as seen in a video circulating on social networks, and asked the authorities to begin a corresponding investigation.
The video recording, which lasts just 30 seconds, captured the moment when an individual loaded a cartridge into a weapon resembling a pistol and handed it to the deputy, who fired up to ten consecutive shots toward a patch of trees and bushes in the mountainous municipality of Juárez, Hidalgo.
Apparently, the legislator, who won the seat through the proportional representation system, was hanging out with some friends when he decided to start shooting.
Following the video's viralization on social media and the outrage it caused among internet users, the Hidalgo Congress issued a statement Sunday night condemning the legislator's actions.
Furthermore, authorities are asked to conduct an investigation to determine whether the legislator has committed any type of illegal act .
"We trust that the competent authorities will investigate the events and, if appropriate, determine whether there is any irregularity that should be sanctioned in accordance with the law. As the Legislative Branch, we reiterate our commitment to legality, transparency, and accountability."
