PDI Perjuangan DPP Chairman Said Abdullah said the dismissal of the four PDIP DPD Chairmen in several provinces was in accordance with the mechanism of the Party's Articles of Association and Regulations which do not allow cadres in the central leadership council (DPP) to hold concurrent positions as Chairmen of the Regional Leadership Council (DPD).
Apart from himself who previously served as Chair of the East Java PDIP DPD, three other PDIP cadres who were dismissed as Chair of the PDIP DPD due to holding dual positions, namely Bambang Wuryanto who previously served as Chair of the Central Java PDIP DPD, Olly Dondokambey who previously served as Chair of the North Sulawesi PDIP DPD, and MY Esti Wijayati who previously served as Acting Chair of the Bengkulu PDIP DPD.
"The dismissal of the four Chairmen of the PDI Perjuangan Regional Leadership Council (DPD) is a mechanism regulated by the Party's Articles of Association and Regulations," Said said in a statement received in Jakarta on Saturday.
He conveyed this to correct information in the mass media which he considered inaccurate because the election of the four Chairmen of the PDIP DPD in several provinces was stopped because they were fired by the General Chair of PDIP Megawati Soekarnoputri.
"This could give rise to a false perception, as if Mrs Mega is acting in an authoritarian manner," he said.
He explained that his party's regulations state that cadres who enter the DPP and party administrators may not hold concurrent positions as Chair of the PDIP DPD, which is in accordance with the PDI Perjuangan Articles of Association after the VI Congress in Nusa Dua Bali 2025, and Party Regulation (PDI Perjuangan) Number 1 of 2025.
"Party members or Party cadres who are elected and appointed as members of the Party Leadership Council (DPP) and Party Administrators may not hold concurrent structural positions above or below them and are automatically deemed to have resigned from their previous positions, unless the Party General Chairperson determines otherwise," said Said, citing the provisions in question.
