Mexico City, July 4.- The four senators who resigned from the PRI are seeking to form a new parliamentary group in the Senate, which would participate in meetings of the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo) and have seats on committees, reported Claudia Ruiz Massieu.
"We're going to form a group of independent senators. We're not going to join any other party. The four of us will act as an independent party, but we will certainly remain part of the contention bloc because we're still in the opposition," the legislator added.
This implies respect for interventions in the plenary session, the integration of committees, and participation with voice but no vote in the Board, he emphasized.
Ruiz Massieu noted that with his departure from the PRI, the PRI parliamentary group is no longer entitled to the vice presidency of the board of directors, nor to the presidencies of two committees it currently has, and as many secretariats. This is only natural given the reduction in the number of its senators, leaving it with only nine.
He recalled that whenever there are changes in the composition of the caucuses, the positions assigned to them are re-evaluated. But this is natural and should not be surprising.
