The 2025 Austrian MotoGP, which will take place at the Red Bull Ring Circuit in Spielberg this weekend, will be the debut of a stability control system in MotoGP, which is designed to reduce the risk of accidents and improve rider safety.
The official MotoGP website said on Friday that the new software works by reducing engine torque as the bike begins to skid, thus minimizing the moment of loss of control.
This mechanism is different from traction control which reacts to excessive tire rotation.
This update is part of the integrated software on the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) that Marelli supplies to all teams.
