The Minister of Communication and Information hopes that the closure of TikTok's live feature will not last long.

Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid responded to the company's voluntary closure of the live feature on the TikTok platform and expressed hope that the decision would not be long-term.

Meutya, after attending a cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace, said the government appreciated the move.

"We also saw from the notification issued by TikTok that they were voluntarily shutting down the live feature, and we hope this won't last long," he said.

Meutya conveyed that President Prabowo Subianto had emphasized that the government was open and listening to the people's aspirations, including input regarding the existence of TikTok's live feature.

According to him, although this closure has an impact on MSMEs who are accustomed to selling via live broadcasts, e-commerce activities can still run without this feature.

"If conditions gradually improve, hopefully TikTok's live feature can return," he said.

The Minister of Communication and Digital also hopes that the situation will improve soon so that business actors can again utilize digital platforms optimally.
