Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Hathalin, a leader of the Al-Hathalin clan, said that the occupation army handed over the body of Awda Al-Hathalin (31 years old) to his family near the Meitar military checkpoint south of the town of Adh Dhahiriya, in preparation for burial in the village cemetery.
He added that the occupation army deployed its forces and set up two military checkpoints on the road leading to the village, in an attempt to prevent citizens from participating in the funeral.
Al-Hathalin had participated in protests against the Israeli land confiscation of his village, Umm al-Khair, in the Masafer Yatta area, south of Hebron, on July 28. An Israeli settler shot him and he was taken to the hospital wounded, before being pronounced dead hours later.

It is worth noting that Al-Hathalin was a teacher at the Ministry of Education and a father of three children, the eldest of whom is 6 years old. He was one of the co-producers of the film "No Other Land," which won the 2025 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, and which highlights the forced displacement imposed by Israel on Palestinians in the Masafer Yatta area, as part of a settlement policy that violates international law.
