71.4% of video surveillance cameras are in operation: Marina del Pilar

Tijuana . Through the installation of four thousand video surveillance cameras that will allow people to monitor what's happening on the streets of the state, as well as the reinforcement of the coordination efforts of the corporations that comprise the State Citizen Security Council, Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda stated that efforts are being strengthened to generate conditions of peace for all Baja Californians.

The state leader stated that the installation of the cameras is 71.4 percent complete; however, work will continue to establish a state-of-the-art video surveillance network connected to municipal authorities, with the firm objective of providing greater security to the homes of Baja California families, especially in the highest-risk areas.

It should be noted that of the total number of cameras , 1,152 are in Mexicali, 1,368 in Tijuana and Playas de Rosarito, 200 in Ensenada, 180 in Tecate, and in the case of San Quintín and San Felipe, 80 cameras are planned for installation before the end of 2023. Additionally, the rehabilitation of the C4 in San Quintín is also planned.

Regarding the road arches , four of the seven planned for this year have been installed, and four of the 10 installed in Mexicali, Tijuana, Ensenada, Rosarito Beach and Tecate have been rehabilitated, which has allowed the recovery of 171 vehicles reported stolen and the arrest of 212 people in flagrante delicto for the same crime in the period from January to September of this year.

"The work being carried out in coordination with federal authorities has helped strengthen our security strategy and reduce crime rates. However, as we have stated on other occasions, we are not satisfied. We face a major security challenge, a significant one, and we will continue working and striving to ensure that crime and violence do not reach the homes of Baja California families," he said.
