In the port of Acapulco, Guerrero,
the delivery of household goods to 250,000 families affected by Hurricane Otis concluded. Meanwhile, for the reconstruction of more than 300,000 homes, those affected received between 43,000 and 68,000 pesos, the federal government reported yesterday.
Regarding material damage, the search continues for 31 people missing at sea, said Secretary of the Navy José Rafael Ojeda during the presentation of the official report on the operations at the port.
Yesterday, during the morning press conference at the National Palace, both Governor Evelyn Salgado and Secretary of Tourism Miguel Torruco stated that Acapulco's economic recovery has been achieved, making it possible to host sporting events such as the Tennis Open. The Tourism Market and the Banking Convention will be held in the coming weeks.
Salgado highlighted the assistance provided by the rapid restoration of power and road communications, which was possible in just 11 days.
He said that 180 hotels with more than 8,000 rooms are already in operation. They represent 68 percent of the total offering in the port.
To this end, said Secretary of the Interior Luisa María Alcalde, the National Fund for Tourism Development (Fonatur), the private sector, and development banks are working on the creation of a trust, though she did not provide further details.
