AMLO disassociates himself: there is no interference in Sheinbaum's decisions

"I'm not intervening in anything," asserted Chief Executive Andrés Manuel López Obrador, disassociating himself from any interference in the decisions being made by the virtual president, Claudia Sheinbaum. "I'm not doing it for two reasons: out of principle, I never do that, and two, she wouldn't allow it. I'm leaving happy after what millions of Mexicans did. We must remember that it was a triumph for an entire people."

In his speech, López Obrador devoted part of his time to praising Sheinbaum, whom he placed among the three best in the world: "It may seem exaggerated. Who are you comparing her to? I'll leave that for you. We're not talking about just another governor, a great leader, all of this."

He welcomed the fact that he's anticipating decisions now, and even that he'll soon announce his cabinet, because this gives him more certainty and advances preparation for the administration. Previously, announcements were made the day before the inauguration because they were busy celebrating, or in the case of the Secretary of National Defense, the appointment was held back to avoid potential disagreements.

López Obrador highlighted Sheinbaum's academic background, but with a fundamental addition: she's a humanist. Because you can be an eminence and build the atomic bomb. He even pondered some of the issues he could be criticized for: Did the subway collapse?

"The subway accident. Well, if we look into why that accident happened, we'll find that she's not entirely responsible, much less guilty. She's smart."
