"Let judges, magistrates, and ministers strictly apply the principle that 'outside the law, nothing; above the law, no one,' so that we have a true rule of law, not a crooked one, and let the pretense end," he maintained.
He added: “There was also talk that we lived in a democracy, but no, an oligarchy ruled. Those in power were those at the very top, a minority, with a facade of democracy, there was pretense. Now it's different; now it's the people who rule, who decide, and Article 39 of our Constitution is put into practice, stating that the people have the right to change the form of their government at all times. Power emanates from the people, says the Constitution, and is instituted for their benefit.”
López Obrador emphasized that this initiative is being published on this historic day, after it was approved by the Chambers of Deputies, the Senate, and most local legislatures, "as the Constitution itself requires and which also establishes that the head of the Executive branch must publish this reform, which is what we are doing today, September 15, 2024. I will sign it," he said.
