The presidential advisor also detailed that of the voters who went to the polls this Sunday, just over 90 percent voted for President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to remain in office until the end of his term in 2024.

Although more than 40 percent of the electoral roll had to vote for the referendum to be binding, López Obrador repeatedly stated that if the majority of the vote was in favor of his withdrawal, regardless of the number, he would resign from the presidency.

Mexico's electoral roll is 92,823,216 people, and a sample of 1,830 polling stations was used for this exercise. According to the results, only 7.8 percent of respondents would like his mandate revoked, compared to 91.9 percent who want him to remain in office.
