Tijuana, August 8. Tijuana Mayor-elect Ismael Burgueño Ruiz met with Alejandro Robles Segura, head of Tijuana Customs, to review strategies to expedite commercial export and light vehicle crossings at the border crossings into the United States.
Both expressed their commitment to working together, prioritizing the efficient flow of travelers visiting the border and seeking to return to the United States.
"It's essential to facilitate border crossings, not only for trade, but also for the thousands of citizens who use these points daily," said Burgueño Ruiz.
During the meeting, progress on the construction of the Mesa de Otay II International Crossing was discussed, a project that could not be inaugurated until 2028 due to construction delays on the U.S. side.
Burgueño Ruiz and Robles Segura agreed that cooperation between the municipal government and customs is crucial to addressing the challenges posed by the border, especially in terms of security, mobility, and efficient customs processes.
