Cash payments could disappear on public transportation in Mexicali.

Mexicali, October 29. Prepaid card use on bus services in Mexicali has increased from 2 to 40 percent, and the goal is to reach 70 percent before eliminating cash payments.

This was stated by the head of the Sustainable Mobility Institute (Imos), Jorge Gutiérrez Topete, who highlighted the implementation of differentiated fares in the capital.

He considered the distribution of 20,000 prepaid cards in Mexicali a success and plans to move toward a single-payment concept.

"We are preparing to go cashless on Mexicali buses," he said.
