Mexicali, October 20.- A woman died last August when a pickup truck from the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena) crashed into her home, and now her family is demanding compensation.
Relatives said they have not received a response from those responsible for the accident.
The victim, Karla Guadalupe Arenas Núñez, 48, was asleep next to her husband on August 13 when an army unit crashed into the home, destroying a concrete wall and knocking the couple to the ground in their bed.
The family and their lawyer reported that no member of the Sedena has contacted them to provide material, financial, or psychological support.
Among those affected is a 10-year-old boy, son of a woman living in the Mexico ejido, located in the Mexicali Valley.
In a press conference, Jahn's son Axel Arenas, her now widower Martín Zavala Saucedo, her daughter-in-law Abigail Benítez Alvarado, and her lawyer, Marco Antonio Flores Ortiz, described the events that occurred in the first minutes of August 13, after which the violent events occurred simultaneously in several parts of the state.
For the victims, it's unclear how the accident happened, as it wasn't raining that night and the stretch of road is straight with no curves, but the army vehicle still crashed into the home at high speed.
Those affected are demanding justice for the death of the head of the household, as well as compensation for the damage to the house, which Sedena has not accepted.
