Crystal Palace has been fined 10,000 euros by UEFA for a banner displayed by its supporters during their match against Fredrikstad in the Conference League play-off match, which was played on August 22.
The sanctions were imposed because they were deemed to have damaged UEFA's reputation and conveyed an inappropriate message for a sporting event, based on articles 16(2)(e) and 11(2)(d) of UEFA's regulations, quoted from the New York Times.
Palace supporters unfurled a banner reading "UEFA MAFIA" with a modified logo of the European football body, with the map of Europe replaced by the euro symbol.
The banner was seen on several occasions, including the Community Shield match against Liverpool at Wembley, the opening Premier League match against Chelsea, and the first leg, which Palace won 1-0.
