Mexico City, July 20. Linguist and editor Juan Carlos Rosas Ramírez envisions a dual model for the fate of books : electronic, but also printed. "The relationship between publishers and readers will determine the temporality of bookstores . It's a two-person dance , but there are also choreographies in which more involved people participate."
Convinced that in the digital age, editors continue to fulfill vital functions in facilitating communication between authors and readers , linguist Juan Carlos Rosas Ramírez will teach a virtual course together with a group of colleagues specialized in editorial management, the aim of which is for participants to understand the entire process, from searching, generating or receiving manuscripts to the printing and distribution of copies.
Organized by the Faculty of Arts and Design (FAD) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the diploma in editorial production (with the option to earn a degree) will be held on Fridays and Saturdays, starting September 2 and ending February 18, 2023.
"The editor is a very important intermediary between the content creator and the reader for many reasons: the editor selects the best materials, confirms data, helps ensure the credibility of the information being delivered, and also contributes to the readability of the texts," Rosas Ramírez explains in an interview with
La Jornada .
