Erdogan: We stand firmly with the Palestinian people and will not submit to pressure from Zionist lobbies.

"We do not submit to pressure from global Zionist lobbies or to the smear campaigns carried out by their agents," Erdogan said in a speech at the presidential complex in the capital, Ankara, following a cabinet meeting. He added, "We stand firmly with the Palestinian people as they defend their land, freedom, and dignity."

Erdogan stated that the Palestinian issue had left its mark on the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, despite Israel's attempts to obstruct it. He emphasized the critical importance of the recognition of the State of Palestine by Britain and France, permanent members of the Security Council, despite their delay in taking this step. He expressed his great happiness that the number of countries recognizing Palestine had risen to 158.

The Turkish president noted that recognition is a commendable first step, noting that what must be done next is to give the recognition its due. He continued: "The path to that lies through exerting efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. Otherwise, the step will remain incomplete, and all of Israel's efforts are for that very purpose."

He explained that "behind the policies of annexing the West Bank and stripping Gaza of its population lies the intention to completely eliminate the possibility of establishing a free Palestinian state, and the goal of this is to implement the so-called Greater Israel project."

Erdogan emphasized that Turkey today is one of the biggest obstacles to these two projects, and that the primary reason behind the recent targeting of his country and himself is their clear and unwavering positions. He noted that both friends and foes know full well that Turkey today stands with the oppressed who struggle for freedom and justice.

He continued: "The prayers of the oppressed Palestinians are enough for us, the prayers of the innocent in Gaza are enough for us. If we receive the prayers of the Palestinian people and the appreciation of our nation, then we are happy. Anything else is just empty talk. I ask God not to deprive us of the honor of defending the Palestinian cause, to which we have dedicated our lives."

In this context, the Turkish president noted that almost all countries agree that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, besieged by corruption investigations, is dragging the region and the world into a fire in order to preserve his position. He added, "It is absolutely clear that what we are witnessing is not the mind of a state, but rather a carnage crew that thrives on blood and chaos."

Erdogan continued: "With the exception of a few countries, almost no one wants to stand and take photos alongside Israel and the Netanyahu government."

Regarding his talks with US President Donald Trump last week at the White House, he expressed confidence that everyone will see positive results from his meeting with Trump in the coming period. He noted that his meeting with Trump was comprehensive and fruitful, during which they discussed bilateral relations, the Gaza tragedy, Israel's escalating aggression, the Russian-Ukrainian war, and regional developments.

Erdogan noted that they discussed in detail the issue of preserving stability in Syria and establishing an atmosphere of peace in the Middle East. He also touched on the memorandum of understanding signed between Turkey and the United States on strategic civil nuclear cooperation during his visit toWashington, describing it as a strategic step.

In a separate context, he highlighted Türkiye's successes in the field of air transport, noting that in 2002, Turkish Airlines' fleet included only 65 aircraft, serving 10.4 million passengers to 103 destinations.

He added that by the end of 2024, the annual passenger count will reach 85 million, the fleet size will exceed 470 aircraft, and the number of destinations will increase to 350.

He stated that the goal for 2033, which marks the centenary of Turkish Airlines, is to reach a fleet of 813 aircraft.
