Hamas: Gaza negotiations have been stalled since the assassination attempt in Doha, and we have not received any new proposals.

The movement said in a statement: "Negotiations have been suspended since the failed assassination attempt in the Qatari capital, Doha, and we have not received any new proposals," stressing its readiness to engage positively and responsibly with any initiative that preserves the national rights of the Palestinian people.

On September 9, the Israeli army launched an airstrike targeting a Hamas delegation while it was discussing a US ceasefire proposal. The attack resulted in the deaths of Khalil al-Hayya's office director, Jihad Labad, his son, Humam al-Hayya, and three of his companions. The head of the delegation, Khalil al-Hayya, survived. Qatar condemned the attack and affirmed its right to respond.

On August 18, Hamas agreed to a mediators' proposal for a partial deal that included a ceasefire and a prisoner exchange, but Israel did not respond, despite the agreement's terms matching a previous proposal it had agreed to.

The Israeli opposition and prisoners' families accuse Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of obstructing any deal to end the war and return the prisoners to protect his political interests. Netanyahu faces domestic corruption trials and demands from the International Criminal Court for his arrest on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
