INE continues legal battle against mandate revocation in SCJN

Mexico City, January 19.- Despite the fact that the necessary signatures have been submitted to authorize the recall process, the National Electoral Institute (INE) continues its legal battle against this process and has filed four appeals before the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN).

The electoral body is challenging the resolutions of Ministers Yasmín Esquivel Mossa and Margarita Ríos Farjat, who last December admitted the constitutional disputes filed by the Executive and Legislative branches against the INE's board's decision to postpone the recall of the mandate.

They also challenge the ministers' decision to suspend the contested act in both disputes, a measure that ultimately forced the INE to continue organizing the recall.

The four appeals were filed by the executive secretary of the INE, Edmundo Jacobo Molina, and have already been admitted for processing.
