iPhone Air launch delayed due to eSIM compliance issues

The launch of the iPhone Air in China has reportedly been postponed even though it is currently available for pre-order in more than 60 countries.

Apple is facing regulatory constraints in China because the iPhone Air only supports eSIM.

As such, eager buyers in China will have to wait, even though Apple had previously announced that pre-orders would begin today.

The publication reports that the company is working with authorities in mainland China to resolve the issue.

Apple has reportedly confirmed that all three major Chinese carriers are ready to support eSIM on the iPhone Air, pending regulatory approval.

However, the company has not yet provided a release schedule.

Currently, the iPhone Air pre-order page on the Apple Store website in China says 'Release information will be updated later'.

The iPhone Air is known to be available globally in an eSIM-only variant, a move that Apple says allows for a larger battery inside the device.
