Mexicali, March 20. In the coming days, the State Administrative Justice Court (TEJA) will rule on the liability case against former Governor Jaime Bonilla regarding the canceled project to build a photovoltaic plant in Mexicali.
The head of the Secretariat of Honesty and Public Service (SHFP), Gabriela Monge Pérez, reported that they have forwarded the file to TEJA (Teja of Jail), which will make a decision in the following days.
"They will issue a ruling on the case we concluded within our jurisdiction," he said.
The photovoltaic project was announced by former Governor Jaime Bonilla in 2020 and was expected to supply energy to the Río Colorado-Tijuana aqueduct.
This was to be built and operated by the company Next Energy , under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) contract.
Despite lacking federal permits for its operation, the former president laid the first stone of construction in June 2021.
The government of Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda canceled the project and reported irregularities that resulted in administrative and criminal liability proceedings against former officials, including Bonilla Valdez.
Banca Afirme was also accused of withholding 123 million pesos of federal shares within the formalized trust.
