Water production at PDAM Tirta Amertha Jati in Jembrana Regency, Bali, was disrupted due to flooding that occurred in the area some time ago.
"The production disruption was caused by several factors, including our office being submerged in water, which disrupted machine operations. There were also pipes at the water source that were blocked by mud," said Gede Puriawan, Director of PDAM Tirta Amertha Jati Jembrana, in Negara, Jembrana Regency, on Tuesday.
He said that when major floods hit the Jembrana area last Wednesday (10/9), the most severe damage occurred at the office of the drinking water company owned by the local government.
According to him, the flood water was high enough to inundate the clean water production location and office electronic equipment.
"We prioritize production so it can be handled quickly. There were some disruptions to water distribution, especially for customers in the Kota Negara area," he said.
The company is accelerating the repair of the water production location because flood victims definitely need clean water.
"After the flood receded, several parties asked us for clean water via tanker trucks to distribute to flood victims," he said.
Meanwhile, regarding infrastructure such as pipelines, he said there was no damage because the network was buried underground.
Only when heavy rain and the river overflowed on Monday (15/9), the large pipe for sucking water at the Benel Dam, Manistutu Village, was filled with mud so it had to be drained.
"We spent the whole day cleaning the pipes of mud and other debris that was clogging them. However, our clean water distribution to customers continues because the PDAM draws water from several sources," he said.
When major flooding occurred in the Jembrana area many residents' wells were submerged, making the water murky.
