Lionel Messi has yet to decide whether he will play for Argentina at the 2026 World Cup, with coach Lionel Scaloni insisting the captain's decision will be fully respected.
"I haven't spoken to Leo about the World Cup. I know what he said, that he'll take this time calmly. Whatever his decision will be, it will be good," Scaloni said, adding that he didn't want to pressure Messi about participating in the World Cup, as quoted by ESPN.
Messi played his final match for Argentina in Buenos Aires on September 4, when the Albiceleste beat Venezuela 3-0 in a South American 2026 World Cup qualifier.
